ABOUT SCAPADA
Scapada is an advertisement platform where advertisers (listing administrators) and interested parties (users) can get in touch directly without intermediaries.
Advertisers will be able to publish listings in different categories, such as vacation or long-term rentals, activities, services, businesses, and real estate.
In addition, listings for vacation rentals, activities, and services offer the added functionality of accepting reservations, without any reservation fees, and with direct payments between users. Scapada only provides the software necessary for the management of such reservations, to configure the respective calendars, and to facilitate payment data between users.
Scapada is currently the most comprehensive advertisement platform of its kind in terms of available options.
The objective, from a traveler's point of view, is to integrate in the same platform the large number of needs they have, from the beginning to the end of their trip, such as:
- Renting an accommodation
- Finding activities near that accommodation, such as tours or events
- Finding services in the surrounding area, such as a few local language lessons, private transportation, or a consultation with a health professional
- Finding nearby businesses, such as restaurants, cafes, and shops
- The search for possible long-term accommodation, if that vacation or visit extends longer than planned
- The search for a property for sale, if the place visited has become their new home
Obviously it is not only limited to travelers, but to anyone interested in finding listings in any of the categories mentioned.
From an advertiser's point of view, the goal is to offer as much flexibility as possible at the lowest possible cost, starting with the total elimination of booking fees. Listing administrators will have almost total freedom to choose how to set up their listings, how to be contacted, and how to receive payments from users, if any.
ADMINISTRATORS AND USERS
Any visitor to our website who accepts our Terms will be a user.
Within Scapada, we will call any user who has published a listing an administrator (admin), as they are responsible for administering their listings.
USER ACCOUNTS
To sign up (open an account), use the menu at the top right of any page on Scapada. Click on Sign In and in the pop-up window, look for the Register option at the bottom. Once you have filled in your username, email and password, you will receive an email with a link to verify that same email address. By clicking on the link, the account will be active.
In your email you will receive notifications about possible reservations, or unread messages from other users. We may send you information about new options on Scapada, but we won't send you advertisements, nor will we share that address.
All users who register must first accept our Terms and Conditions and our Payments and Refunds policy.
To edit your account, navigate to the Settings option in your account menu. You can change your first and last name, add a profile picture, change your password, etc.
There are only a few required fields that need to be filled in. If they are not filled out, they will be requested before trying to publish a listing. It's recommended that listing administrators complete the "Profile Information" section to build more trust so that other users can learn a little more about them.
Listing administrators' profiles will be publicly accessible.
Account verification is not required and is not asked for. We respect each user's right to remain anonymous.
However, to increase the degree of trust, we offer the possibility of verification to those users who wish to do so. This verification includes a selfie, some official identification document, and possibly links to external platforms where the user is present.
Scapada will add trust indicators related to how many successful bookings an administrator has had, how many complaints, the accuracy of their listings, etc. Indicators will also be added to other users, such as the number of cancellations, non-payments, etc.
Confirmed fake accounts and bad actors will be immediately removed from our website. We define a fake account as any person (or anything) who impersonates a user, but only uses the website to spam, deceive other users, attack the website, or anything that is unrelated to the purpose of this website.
If you spot scammers or fake accounts, we recommend using our contact form to report it, or click the "Report listing" button at the bottom of the respective listing. After investigation, we will decide whether the mentioned account should be deleted or not.
To delete an account, open the Settings page in your user menu and then click on the "Delete Account" link at the bottom.
All of your data and listings, if any, will be deleted. The only remaining data will be the reviews you left, if any, and reservations placed or received, as they contain payment information that may be required.
LISTINGS
To publish a vacation or a long-term rental property, an activity, a service, a business, or a property for sale, follow these steps:
- Log in to your user account and select "Publish a listing". Fill in the details using the "Info" and "Guide" menus, and when you're done, tap Publish Listing
- After review, your listing will be published and will remain active for as long as indicated. If your listing is rejected, you'll be informed of the reasons and you may be able to try again.
Once they've been admitted and published, you can view all of your published listings in the "My listings" option in your user account. Click on any listing to edit it, see its reservations, or modify its calendar (change prices on different days, block dates, etc...).
You can make your listing featured navigating to your listings in your user menu. If a star appears to the right of the listing's name, it indicates that it's available to be featured. Tap the star and follow the indicated steps.
Featured listings appear at the top of the listings search results, and will have a more eye-catching design to capture the visitor's attention.
You can hide a listing from the public for any reason by navigating to the respective listing's editing page. At the top of the form, click on the "Hide listing" option. Unhiding works the same way, with the "Unhide" button.
If a listing expires, it won't disappear, but it will be automatically hidden from the public. You will receive an email with instructions on how to renew it.
On the editing page of the expired listing, the button to renew the it will appear.
You can delete a listing at any time by navigating to the listing's editing page. At the top of the form, click on "Delete listing."
If your listing still had active time left (it wasn't expired), this time won't be recoverable. You will lose the remaining days and all the information in that listing. If you want to re-upload a listing, you'll need to repeat the process from the beginning.
RESERVATIONS
The steps to place a reservation are simple:
- On the specific listing page:
- Press "Reserve"
- In the emerging window, select the date(s). Depending on the listing, you might be able to select times, types and extra options
- Presiona el botón Reservar de nuevo. En algunos casos el administrador sólo permite solicitar una reservación
- On the next page:
- Check the details and add the remaining ones
- Press "Continue"
- On the checkout page:
- Confirm all prices and details are correct and accept the indicated policies
- Press "Confirm"
- Both the administrator and you will receive an email confirming the reservation, and the date(s) and eventually the times will be blocked for you
- On the payments page:
- You'll be informed of any pending payments and when to make them
- You'll be shown all payment methods the administrator of the listing offers to receive your payments
- If necessary, you may pay at that moment with the displayed information. Otherwise you may leave it for later
Once placed and confirmed, in principle reservations can’t be modified. Listing administrators and hosts/customers can communicate via the internal messaging system and agree on possibilities to modify one and/or place new reservations.
You can always access your reservations in your user account, under Reservations. They are sorted according to their status (pending, confirmed, canceled…) and then by date, with the nearest upcoming reservations first.
Click on any reservation number to see its full details and options. Once inside, you will be able to message the administrator, confirm or deny a reservation request (as a host or activities or services provider), access the payments page, view the bill, or cancel it altogether.
After receiving the first reservation, select the Calendar option on your user account menu to see an overview of all your received reservations for all your listings combined.
To see only an overview of the reservations related to a specific listing, select the Listings option on your menu, click on the respective listing and open its own calendar.
Both listing administrators and guests/customers can cancel reservations up until the date and/or time it starts, although stricter cancellations and refunds policies may apply.
Under the Reservations option in your user account menu, open the specific reservation and click on “Cancel reservation”.
PLANS
In a nutshell, a plan defines how many listings a user can publish, how long they will remain published, and which categories of listings it allows a user to upload.
Visit our plans page, choose the one you prefer, and follow the steps provided.
PAYMENTS
During the promotional period, the use of Scapada is totally free. Scapada will never receive fees or commissions from placed reservations, nor during nor after this period.
Payments for reservations or any other product between a user and a listing administrator are made directly between them, with no added fees and no intervention from our side.
The listing administrator will have filled out on his profile the payment methods he accepts, along with the details needed to receive payments. At this time an administrator will be able to choose to receive payments via bank transfer or deposit, credit card, cash, Wise, PayPal or Revolut.
A user who has visited a listing and has reached the final stage of the reservation process, which will be payment, will see and be able to choose any payment method that the administrator has offered, and will be able to see the associated data to make the payment (bank account, name on PayPal, etc...).
Once a user has placed a reservation (has gone through the Checkout page), he will be shown the available payment methods.
The system will inform the user when payments are due, and what type of payments are required. For example, a deposit may be required for a reservation, and the listing administrator may require that payment be immediate. It is also possible that no payment in advance is required, and payment can be made on the date the reservation begins. The system is flexible, and the administrator will have decided all these details beforehand.
A listing administrator may require prepayment of part of -or the total- cost of the reservation at the time of reserving. A refundable security deposit may also be required to cover damages or theft. These requirements will be clearly indicated on the respective listing.
TAXES, FEES AND COMMISSIONS
Taxes are the responsibility of each listing's administrator. Since Scapada does not pay its users (members), we do not and cannot withhold any taxes either.
On Scapada we don't charge commissions or added fees per reservation, neither to listing administrators nor to users placing reservations. For users who only want to find and pay for accommodations, activities or services, the use of this website is completely free.
By default, taxes aren't shown directly on listings, and only total prices are shown, including taxes. Certain countries may impose taxes on reservations, which is why it's suggested that listing admins add the tax percentage already included in the Description field or the Rules field. Alternatively, administrators may include a mandatory additional option (Additional Options) that includes the value of taxes or any other added fees, such as "tourism taxes".
